In 1997, the version 1 of ADEPP has been developed on the OTS platform of Winsim, product of RSI. Institute Français du Pétrole (IFP) paid for the development of ADEPP (V1). Later in 2000 IFP bought 100% of RSI and the name of Winsim changed into Indiss.

In 2014, ADEPP Academy formed a partnership with VMG and HAL/SSL to develop the web based version of ADEPP. At present VMGSim; the process simulator of VMG and Varsim; the pipeline hydraulic simulator of SSL are combined by OPC connection to simulate a typical LNG exportation plant. This mini super model has been connected to a common web based HMI/Scada for the training applications. The ADEPP Risks and safety models are under development and will be added to the VMGsim-Varisim model.
